Welcome to the eQuit study site
This study is about how effective Internet and telephone-based resources are in helping smokers quit. It is a joint project conducted by the VicHealth Centre for Tobacco Control at The Cancer Council Victoria, and the Department of Information Systems at the University of Melbourne.
We need smokers who are interested in quitting within the next month (or who have just quit, within the last week).
To be eligible, you need to live in Australia, and have a mobile phone number so that we can contact you.
The study begins with a short survey that you do (online) now. It will only take a few minutes and asks about your smoking and any recent quit attempts. At the end of the survey, we may then recommend some forms of help you might like to consider using, however you are under no obligation to do so.
We will contact you in about a month to find out whether you have made a quit attempt, how it has gone, and what you have used to help you quit. Finally, we will contact you about 6 months later to find out whether you have quit successfully or not.
